Students may engage with the project in a number of ways
Following are just some of the ideas generated so far. Please contribute your suggestions.
- English - Capturing narrrative - Story books – life stories of older people could be presented to them
- Physical activity and Sports Studies - Leisure activities across the ages, surveys could be conducted
- History – exploring the personal experiences of war time & the impact on individuals & families
- Year group activities such as music & drama performances to support local retirement villages and seniors community events
- Multi media students could produce a short DVD on respect
- Junior students could read newspapers to seniors
- Seniors could listen to low ability students reading circles
- Discussions with seniors about Fashion and budget tips from the war/depression years
- Twitter – Penpal on computer
- English students chat with a senior about different perspectives over the generations & social changes during their lifespan
- Home EC – discuss cooking in war or depression years, recipes and budget tips
- A Gardening Activity could also be incorporated
- A commmunity service element can be integrated into the Year 10 Work Experience Program
- A commmunity service element can be integrated into the Year 9 Learning Journeys Program
- A commmunity service element can be integrated into the Duke of Edinburgh Program
